South Africa’s favorite chutney, Mrs H.S. Ball’s, strikes a heavenly balance of sweet & savory, fruity & tangy. Dried fruit, spices and a touch of vinegar are the heart of all of Mrs Ball’s recipes. Our signature cheese on the winery’s Artisan Cheese Boards is chevre-style goat cheese topped with a stripe of Mrs Ball’s chutney. The idea stem’s from our winemaker & chef, Max, who fondly remebers when she was little her parents let her in on the big secret that Santa was super tired of milk and cookies and would be particularly happy if someone left out beer and cheese and crackers. The family tradition of leaving two frosty mugs of beer for santa and an elf, along with crackers, cheddar and cream cheese covered with green-pepper jelly was born in the 1970’s and today is transformed into sharing hand-crafted estate wines and exceptional artisanal cheeses with our vistors, the goat cheese with Mrs Ball’s chutney being the star of the show.
